Alberto Barahona

Head Chef of the Conuma Grill at Moutcha Bay Resort. 

Alberto has been with Nootka Marine Adventures since 2017.

“The Outdoor Education Program is one of my favourite memories, year after year. Seeing the kids learn everything about nature, salmon preservation, kayaking, and learning to survive in the wilderness is awesome. At the end of the trip I barbeque for them and they share their experiences from the trip. I also love the annual Kayak Derby. As a Costariccan who grew up in the East, I moved to Vancouver Island and decided to enroll in the Culinary Program at VIU. I really enjoy being on the Island and especially working with Nootka Marine Adventures. The company values, freedom for creativity, the leadership, the vision and the growth of the company is what brought and kept me here.”

Michael Hassall

Michael has been with Nootka Marine Adventures since 2019.

“It is a strange and amazing thing to think back on the summer spent working in Nootka Sound and have so many memories all battling for the “best”. Everyday brought new experiences and wonders. The Ocean is an amazing place. Seeing whales, dolphins, jellyfish, bears, eagles, and many many more creatures was unreal. The people I met and worked with left me a better person, so much knowledge and diversity of background. When an experience leaves you at a loss for words it is impossible to select a best memory. The People and Culture is what makes working at NMA one of the best experiences I have had. When you work so closely and over such a long period of time with basically the same people it is really important that not only do you get along, but that you can respect each other, help each other and become just like family.  NMA works hard towards this goal and it shows is all levels of the business.”
