We know how important it is that your catch is handled properly to ensure its integrity, freshness, and flavour. We are proud to provide you with exceptional fish processing services through each of our resorts.
Nootka Marine Adventures proudly operates two provincially-licensed fish processing facilities which are located at Moutcha Bay Resort and Newton Cove Resort. We take great pride in the quality and timeliness of our service, and our guests leave with their catch perfectly packaged and ready for travel.
If fishing guided, your guide will make certain that your catch is immediately bled and kept cold on ice. Upon return to the Resort, your gutted and gilled catch is tagged, placed on ice, and taken directly from the boat to the processing facility.
We are sure to work immediately with your catch to ensure maximum freshness. Our processing team carefully fillets your fish, removing rib bones and fins, and portions to meal-sized 1-pound portions or larger per your request. Each individual portion is promptly vacuum-packed using high-quality 5mm plastic bags and then labeled with your name, catch date, and fish species. Your fish is then flash-frozen in our blast freezers. We package your finished product for travel in airline-approved cardboard boxes with liners and you will leave with all the necessary legal documentation for travel.
You can expect your fish to stay frozen for up to 8 hours travel time. Provided you maintain its temperature and handle it gently, you can expect to enjoy an excellent product well after your visit!
