The store sells lures, hooks, flashers, weights, rods, reels, and more, and our friendly Dock Shack staff are always happy to give you information about exploring and fishing in the area.

Marine gas, diesel, and propane sales are available year-round. Reach the Dock Shack by radio on VHF channel 6.

Kayak and SUP Rentals

The Moutcha Bay Resort marina offers a variety of watersports and self-powered crafts to rent. Choose from sea kayaks, fishing kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and pedal boats.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon paddling through beautiful Moutcha Bay or planning a multi-day expedition exploring Nootka Sound, we’ve got you covered. We provide all the safety equipment necessary to enjoy a fun day on the water.

Sea kayaks require a few basic skills and are equipped with bilge pumps, spare paddles, paddle floats, throwing lines, spray skirts, and life jackets.  Single, tandem and fishing kayaks are available, with full-day and hourly rental options.

For a relaxed tour of our beautiful shoreline, rent a stand-up paddleboard. Easy to balance and provides a full-body workout, SUPs are great for all levels of experience. Take one out for a few hours in the calm bay and feel like you’re walking on water! Lifejackets, harnesses, and leashes are included with each rental.

Watersport rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Ask at the front desk or dock shack.

Fish Processing Facility

We know how important it is that your catch is handled properly to ensure its integrity, freshness, and flavor. We are proud to provide you with exceptional fish processing services through each of our resorts. Operating two provincially licensed fish processing facilities which are located at Moutcha Bay Resort and Newton Cove Resort, we take great pride in the quality and timeliness of our service, and our guests leave with their catch perfectly packaged and ready for travel.

Our processing team carefully fillets your fish, removing rib bones and fins, and portions to meal-sized 1-pound portions or larger per your request. Each individual portion is promptly vacuum-packed using high-quality 5mm plastic bags and then labeled with your name, catch date, and fish species. Your fish is then flash-frozen in our blast freezers. We package your finished product for travel in airline-approved cardboard boxes with liners and you will leave with all the necessary legal documentation for travel. You can expect your fish to stay frozen for up to 8 hours of travel time. Provided you maintain its temperature and handle it gently, you can expect to enjoy an excellent product well after your visit!

Both of our facilities are St Jean’s Cannery depots. Arrange to have some or all of your catch smoked, candied, or canned for an additional cost. We will send out your catch to St Jean’s Cannery for custom processing and shipping to your home. Visit St Jean’s website for rates and more information.

We are open between May and September from 7:00 am and 9:00 pm daily. Please allow for a 12-hour minimum turnaround.
