Start A Family Tradition
We think that fishing is a big deal.
Nothing compares to a day in the great outdoors, making cherished memories with friends and family at your side. With electronics and cellular service out of reach, a family fishing trip among green forested mountains and sparkling blue seas is a balm for the busy soul – even when you’re not catching fish.
The slow, thoughtful pace of angling teaches the importance of patience and attention to the environment and gives families plenty of time to reminisce and connect. In our opinion, fishing is the best family tradition out there. If you haven’t given it a try yet, now is the time!
Learn A New Skill
Did you know that there are five species of Pacific Salmon? Do you know how to read a tide chart? Have you ever reeled in a fish? If you’re new to saltwater fishing (or just a bit rusty), enroll in the Black Swan Academy and learn the basics with us! We love to teach people all about fishing!
Black Swan Academy is our newest fishing program aimed at growing a new love of angling amongst families of all ages. You’re not going to fall in love with fishing until there’s a rod in your hand and your patience has been rewarded with the feeling of a strike. That’s why Black Swan Academy focuses on one of our favourite angling methods – jigging!
Jigging is one of the best ways to fish for your favourite species at different depths, all at once, because it allows you to access the entire vertical water column. Plus, it’s hands-on and a ton of fun!
We are proud to have the largest, most comfortable, safest, and top-of-the-line vessels on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Accommodating groups of 4 to 7, Black Swan Academy tours are hosted on either our fiberglass guide boats (groups of 4) or our newest “Black Swan” North River vessels (groups of 5 to 7). Groups of 4 are accompanied by a professional instructor and groups of 5 to 7 are accompanied by a pilot and professional instructor. On either vessel, you’ll feel right at home with our friendly, professional staff allowing plenty of hands-on learning time.
