Policies and FAQ

What is the deposit policy?

We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking to secure your reservation. Payment in full is required by April 1 of the arrival year. Deposits will be automatically charged to your card on file unless otherwise requested.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made outside of 90 days from arrival are subject to a 10% cancellation charge (50% for campsites) with the remainder refunded. Cancellations made within 90 days from arrival forfeit their full payment. If a reservation is moved to future dates, it will still adhere to the original reservation date’s cancellation policy.

Are pets allowed?

Moutcha Bay Resort is a pet-friendly resort that understands pets are an extension of your family. We gladly welcome our guests traveling with pets in our waterfront chalets, mini yurts 1 through 4, and serviced campgrounds. There will be $25 per night, per pet fee (not applicable to campground stays). This fee will not apply to guide dogs or assistive dogs – management has a right to ask for validating identification. We ask that you keep your furry friend in a carrier or on a leash of 6 feet or less and do not leave him or her unattended at any time. Pets must be restrained while in open bed pick-up trucks. Please collect pet waste and deposit it into a trash receptacle. Nootka Sound Resort and Newton Cove Resort are not suitable for pets.

Are campfires permitted in the campground?

Yes – each campsite includes a fire ring. Please be aware that Vancouver Island often experiences fire bans in the summer months. Visit www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/fire-bans-and-restrictions for up-to-date information on burning restrictions in our province.

Do you sell firewood?

Yes – firewood is available at Moutcha Bay Resort at $10 per bin. Ask at the Front Desk and we’ll be happy to deliver some to your campsite. Please note that the gathering of firewood is prohibited in our campground and picnic areas.

Is there internet access?

Yes – all of our Resorts offer complimentary Wi-Fi in our guest and meeting rooms. Keep in mind that our Wi-Fi runs on a satellite service and can be spotty at times.

Is there cellphone service?

There is no cell phone coverage at any of our Resorts. However, we do offer a complimentary telephone at the Front Desk for guest use.

Are gratuities included?

Gratuities are not included in our pricing and are much appreciated by our shore staff and fishing guides. Gratuities may be added to your room charges and paid for by credit card upon departure. We feel that a gratuity is a reflection of the service you received. A customary gratuity for a fishing guide is between $70-$100 per guest/day on the boat, and 20% of your stay for shore staff.

What if I have special dietary requirements?

We do our very best to accommodate food allergies and special requirements. Please let us know of your request prior to your arrival.

Can I smoke?

Smoking is not permitted in any of our guest rooms or public spaces. Please smoke in designated areas only and dispose of cold cigarette waste in trash receptacles – not on the ground, fire pits, or ocean. Smoking in rooms is subject to a minimum $250 cleaning charge.

Can I barbecue?

Complimentary barbecues are provided at Moutcha Bay Resort in several areas for guest use. Some accommodations include private barbecues.

Do I need a fishing license?

All anglers must have a license to fish the tidal or freshwaters in British Columbia and must carry their license at all times when on the water. We ask our guests to purchase their licenses before arrival at our resorts in order to avoid any possible delays. Visit Fishing Licenses for more information.

Do you provide housekeeping?

Daily housekeeping service is provided in each guest room.*

*Note: Daily housekeeping is not available at Moutcha Bay Resort in 2023

Can I purchase a gift certificate?

Nootka Marine Adventures Gift Certificates are a great gift idea for the angler and outdoors lover in your life! Gift certificates must be applied in a single payment against a reservation at any of our Resorts. Please contact Guest Services for more information on purchasing a gift certificate.

What taxes are applicable to my room reservation?

The federal Good and Services Tax (GST) of 5% is applicable to all accommodation bookings, including campsites. An 8% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) is applicable to all guest rooms, chalet, and yurt bookings.
