History of the Yurt

The history of the Yurt dates back to the time of Genghis Khan in the 13th century. Yurts have been used by generations of nomadic horse herders in Mongolia as portable homes which can be set up anywhere. At Moutcha Bay Resort our Yurts – Luxury Yurts and Mini Yurts are always a guest favorite for their wrap-around decks with stunning views and unique layouts.

Luxury Yurts

Our luxury yurts comfortably accommodate 4 guests in fully furnished deluxe surroundings. They feature a fully-equipped kitchen as well as a luxurious full bathroom. There are two twin beds in the main bedroom, or a king, and two twin beds in the loft. There is a pull-out couch in the living area for additional guests. Please note that there is an additional fee for any guests past 4. All of our luxury yurts feature a wrap-around deck with stunning views of Moutcha Bay and a private barbeque. Included with your luxury yurt is one parking spot.

Luxury Yurt Amenities

Each luxury yurt overlooks scenic Moutcha Bay and is suitable for up to 4 guests, but can sleep up to 6. Each unit includes:

  • Two twin beds or one king bed in the main bedroom
  • Two twin beds in the loft
  • Full kitchen equipped with all utensils
  • Dining & living area
  • Pull-out couch in the living area
  • Full bathroom with soaker tub
  • Wrap-around deck with ocean views, table & chairs
  • Private barbeque
  • Parking for one vehicle

Yurt 111 – no loft, 2 double beds, 2 pull-out couches.
Yurt 112 – Accessible ramp & shower

Mini Yurts

Wake up to fresh coastal air and misty ocean views from the comfort and warmth of our modern waterfront mini yurts. Settled on the shoreline of Moutcha Bay, with attached washroom, waterfront deck, and comfortable beds, our mini yurts provide a true west coast experience for outdoors lovers.

Mini Yurt Amenities

Each mini yurt overlooks scenic Moutcha Bay and is suitable for up to 4 guests (2 adults and 2 children, 12 & under).

Each unit includes:

  • Two twin beds or one king bed
  • Two single pull-out chair futons (suitable for children 12 & under only)
  • Bar fridge, coffee maker, and vanity sink inside the yurt
  • Heated washroom with shower adjacent to the yurt (outside entrance)
  • Spacious waterfront deck with table and chairs
  • Private barbeque
  • Parking for one vehicle

Mini yurt #5 is handicap accessible, adapted amenities.
